This idea was originally going to be 4 duets in different areas of Club Chemistry however because of Convid-19 I have adapted it to 4 solos and 1 duet and have edited them all together.
This piece is part of my creative process and was an idea I had for the start of the piece; and will be included in the final performance. This choreography explores different emotions that are likely to be felt during an uncomfortable situation like this one.
Initial idea
A duet performed by Rory and any girl at the beginning of the male’s monologue. Showing contact and a lot of tension throughout. Every performer is in a pair and performs the duet at some point. For example: Charlotte and Rory perform the unison work (choregraphed by Brooke) at the very start followed by the duet I choregraphed. These two performers are in the centre of the space, once they have performed their duet, they freeze in position related to their allocated word. Almira and Ella perform theirs which is similar to the previous one however slightly different. This continues with each duet (Imogen and Jade followed by Brooke and Chloe).
Each duet uses an emotion that was displayed in Almira’s still image task (fear, attack, alone, appearance and intimidation.) I am also creating dialogue to be whispered over parts of this piece.
Adapted version
Due to not be able to create duets with contact work because of Convid-19 I have decided to adapt the choreography into solos with one duet at the end. The unison section at the beginning will stay that same but just be performed by one performer. Following this I will include four solos, all using one of the words from the freeze frames we used in a rehearsal when we were still able to meet up. The duet at the end will represent all five words involved throughout the solos. The whispers will stay the same and will be recorded individually as voice overs and be edited over the movement phrases.
